For those of you who have been lucky enough to dive in Narooma you know that it is one of the best dives around. For those of you who haven't here is your chance!!

My favourite dive is back and it’s time to dust of your wet suits from the winter blues.

Narooma is situated on the coast and is 5 hours south of Sydney. Nestled on the pristine waterway of Wagonga Inlet, it is surrounded by National Parks, State Forests and beautiful beaches.

Montague Island is situated about 9km offshore on the overlap of oceanic zones resulting in a multitude of tropical, sub-tropical and cold water species.

We have been working with the operator for several years now and he has looked after us year after year. In October we will be able to see the usual Seals, Wobbegongs, Seals, Turtles, Seals, Port Jackson, Seals, Grey Nurse sharks if we're lucky and if we are really lucky we will get Whale.  Various dive sites have hard or soft corals, sea tulips and exquisite fans.

Last year when we did the dive we heard the whales singing while we were in the water!!!

There are two seal colonies at Montague Island. In winter and spring there may be a total of 1500 of these furry creatures lounging around the rocks and frolicking in the water. Many of them migrate, but there remains a core of 100 or so all year. It is a non-breeding colony and the pups we see there are not newborns, so there is No dangerous shark problem. These cheeky, inquisitive animals with their big brown eyes are usually not at all shy with small dive groups and will come right over to the divers. They are amazing to watch as they play together - spinning , twirling, diving - one instant there, the next they are gone.

Based on numbers we are aiming on doing the trip for $415 which includes:

- Accommodation
- Double dive both days = 4 dives total. Plus the possibility of a morning dive on the Monday.
- Tank fills for the trip.

This price might go down we will see once we firm up numbers and the plan.

Gear (BCD, Regs & computer, weights) isn't included so that will be usual club prices. If you need any other gear (Wetsuits, fins, mask and snorkel) you will have to either hire it from Chris or buy it in Sydney before we leave.

The plan is for a leisurely drive to Narooma on Friday night the 29th do the lunch dive and then Saturday, do the morning dive on the Sunday and then possibility do the Monday morning dive before driving home.

Getting there: we hope to get the UTS bus and will update you as soon as we know whether it is available.  Otherwise, please let the organiser know if you need or can provide transport and we will try to car pool.

Seal diving at Montague Island is suitable for all diver levels so everyone is welcome but this year if we get enough people we might do an extra dive on the Monday or as part of weekend dive on 'The SS Lady Darling', a 135 year old wreck sitting at 35 meters. This will be an 'Advanced open water' dive only'. Here is a video of the wreck:

The maximum number of divers we can take on this trip is 10. Secure your spot now by registering online with a $50 deposit by the End of August. Chris is busy this time of year so we want to get in fast.
The balance will be payable by no later than Friday the 15st of Spetember.
