Magic Point Shark Dive!

Best chance to see Grey Nurse sharks!

Magic Point is a sea cave South of Sydney Harbour that has a big reputation for Grey Nurse Sharks, a harmless and protected species. ...as well as other sea life. Magic Point is suitable for open water and advanced divers.  Depths are relatively shallow at Magic Point (5-17 metres).

Apart from the sharks, there are some giant cuttlefish, eastern blue devilfish, giant bull rays and huge schools of yellowtail and other schooling fish. In my opinion, this is the best boat dive in Sydney for diverse marine life.

Venue: Long Bay picnic area, Fishermans Road, Malabar. For details on how to get there by public transport go to Routes and timetables | transportnsw.info and look up route 399.

Bring some picnic food and relax with fellow Doutsies.

Pick up details: It will be a wet entry on the beach in front of the picnic area.  The boat will approach the beach and you will need to board via the stepladder in deep water wearing your scuba gear.  Do not bring any additional bags or clothes onto the boat; it's OK to bring hats, sunglasses and keys which can be minded by the boat captain. If you are hiring gear from DOUTS, this gear will be ready for you on the boat.

Departure times: 9:00 a.m and 11:00 a.m.  Please be kitted up and ready to go at the advertised departure for your dive.

Failure to be on time may result in your missing the dive.

Costs: $40 for a single dive. As this is an extremely popular event, we have limited it to one dive per person so that more people have options to dive. If there is sufficient space closer to date, we will open it up the option of double dives.

Gear hire is available at club prices.
